The Chronicle Herald; Halifax NS Canada; 2012-8-29 LAKE, Gladys Leona - 91, of Ellershouse, Hants Co., passed away Monday, August 27, 2012, in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born on May 10, 1921, in Belmont, Hants Co., she was a daughter of the late Henry Otis and Martha Elizabeth (O'Toole) Davis. Gladys had been a nurse's aid for 17 years at the Masonic Home in Windsor. She was a member of St. James Anglican Church, Brooklyn; a member of the Avondale United Church Women; Leila Rebekah Lodge No. 59, Windsor; and the Newport Jolly Seniors. Gladys enjoyed quilting, knitting, bowling, playing cards, going on bus trips and camping. Gladys was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are daughter, Leona (Owen) Greeno, Cheverie, Hants Co.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, three great great-grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents, Henry and Martha (O'Toole) Davis; her husband, Charles Norwood Lake (1999); sisters, Nellie Dimock, Elizabeth "Libby" Hope, Mabel Connors; brother, Charles Davis. Cremation has taken place under the care of Lindsay's Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King St., Windsor. A public graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, August 30, in Newport Landing Cemetery, Avondale, Rev. Pix Butts officiating.
