Spokesman Review; Spokane WA; 2006-1-15 LAKE, Harold A. "Toad" - Died at home in Loon Lake, Washington on Wednesday, January 4, 2006 surrounded by family. Harold was born in Spokane, WA on March 19, 1923 in an ambulance while en route to the hospital. He is a World War II veteran who married the love of his life, Doris Taylor Lake, with whom he shared 51 years of marriage. Doris preceded Harold in death on June 23, 1996. Harold worked as a logger, ironworker, and heavy equipment operator, spending many years in Alaska. He also had a special interest in horseracing. Harold is survived by eight children, whom he called his "yahoos", Karen Lake, Dan Lake, Gerri Nielsen, Les Lake, Chrissy Cheff, Sheryl Templeton, Marjorie Fornataro, Becky Hammer; 26 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his special companion, Velma Loi. A Celebration of Harold's Life will be held at Noon on Saturday, February 4, 2006 at the Loon Lake Elementary School, 4001 Maple in Loon Lake, WA. A reception will follow.
