"Harry" - 78, Fox River, Cumberland Co., died Wednesday, December 20, 2000, at home, surrounded by his family. Born in Fox River, he was a son of the late Harry and Jessie (Smith) Lake. Harry attended school in Fox River. In 1940, he joined the Royal Canadian Army and served in England with the Royal Winnipeg Rifles and later in Africa, Sicily and Italy with the Royal Canadian Regiment. He was wounded in Ortona, Italy in 1944. He is survived by his wife, the former Madeline Allen; daughters, Yvonne Raynard and her husband Ross, Calgary, Alberta; Evelyn Pye and her husband Cecil, Fox River; Penny Lake, Amherst; sons, Harold and his wife, Kathy, Scot's Bay, Kings Co; James and his wife Laura; David and his wife, Corrina, all of Dartmouth; sisters, Mary Gladwell, Parrsboro; Kathleen Yorke, Fox River; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by daughter, Elizabeth Ann in infancy; sisters, Elizabeth "Betty", Enid; brothers, William, Stanley, Herbert, Donald. Funeral 2 p.m. Saturday in Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Fox River, Rev. Robert Richmond officiating. Burial in the church cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice. Arrangements entrusted to Smith's Funeral Home, Parrsboro.
