           Hazel Lucille Lake
           Died October 6, 1999
           LAKE ANN - Hazel Lucille Lake, 88, of Lake Ann, died
     Wednesday at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
           Born Oct. 24, 1910, in Almira Township, she was the daughter
     of Henry and Gertrude (Buchner) Brooks. On March 23, 1929, in
     Muskegon, she married Julius B. "Bernie" Lake.
           A homemaker, Hazel enjoyed sewing, quilting and crafts. She
     was a longtime member of the Lake Ann United Methodist Church.
           She is survived by her daughters, Elsie (William) Barrett of
     Mason, Lucille (Franklin) Tooley of Lake Ann, Margaret (Burton)
     Nelson of Chino Valley, Ariz. and Marion (Clayton) Becker of
     Traverse City; sister, Elsie M. Bryan of Lake Ann; brothers, Ellis
     M. Brooks of Reed City and Floyd H. Brooks of Hudson, Fla.; 12
     grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; eight
     great-great-grandchildren; and many good friends and neighbors.
           She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband on
     Aug. 26, 1991.
           Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Lake Ann
     United Methodist Church with Rev. Charles Towersey officiating.
     Friends may call at the church from noon until the time of service.
     Burial will be in Almira Township Cemetery.
           Memorial contributions may be directed to the Lake Ann United
     Methodist Church.
           Arrangements were handled by Bennett-Barz Funeral Home of
     Beulah.
