The Woodford Sun; Versailles KY; 2005-9-29 Helen Ann Whalen, 67, of Lexington, died Sunday, Sept. 25, 2005, at the St. Joseph Hospital. Born in Lexington, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Effie Lakes. She was retired from Regency Manor Apartments and a member of Grace Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, Sonny Whalen, Lexington, and Tony Whalen, North Middletown; four daughters, Cathy Tyree, Dee Dee Whalen, and Tina Pickard, all of Lexington, and Pam Hager, Nicholasville; two brothers, the Rev. Bobby Lakes, Versailles, and James Lakes, Lexington; three sisters, Evalee Planck, Lucille Lakes, and Frances Masse, all of Lexington; 19 grandchildren, Jeffrey, Amy, Coty, Josh, Jesse, Jamie, Jason, Shannon, Matt, Jeremy, Jennifer, Jessica, Brittany, Joseph, Amanda, T.J., Dustin, Cody, and Courtney; six great-grandchildren, Aidan, Dominique, Alyssa, Dustin, Derrick, and Darren; and a special niece, Darlene Slone. Services were conducted Wednesday, Sept. 28, at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Main Street, by the Rev. Bobby Lakes. Burial was in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens.
