HELEN CARPENTER
  A memorial service will be held Dec. 3 for Helen Sophia Carpenter of
Eugene, who died Nov. 26 of age related causes.  She was 87.

  Carpenter was born Oct. 15, 1915, in Arling, Idaho, to Oscar and
Clara Lake.

  She married Elmer W. Carpenter in Ontario on June 1, 1931.  She married
Myron O. Bishop on July 20, 1935; married Robert W. Glenn on Jan. 19,
1974; and married Robert Inks on June 6, 1985.  Bishop, Glenn and Inks
died previously.  She remarried Elmer Carpenter on May 6, 2000.  He died
Oct. 31, 2002.

  She lived in New Plymouth, Idaho; New Meadows, Idaho; Lodi, Calif.;
and Noti before moving to Eugene, where she lived for 57 years.

  Carpenter was a high school graduate who worked as a cook, farmer,
homemaker and grandmother.  She enjoyed writing poetry, gardening and
flowers.  She was a member of the Elmira Grange, the Santa Clara Church
of Christ and the Elmira Rebekah Lodge.

  Survivors include four daughters, Doris Wicks of Hermiston, Dorothy
Luttrell of Redmond, Mildred Phillips of Lebanon and Norma Phillips of
Meyersdale, Pa.; a son, Ronald Bishop of Coquille; four stepdaughters,
Sharon Weir and Darlene Alton, both of Post Falls, Idaho, Bonnie
Gesh of Springfield and Roberta Glenn of California; five stepsons,
Ron Carpenter of La Mesa, Calif., Gary Carpenter of Astoria, Darrell
Carpenter of Woodbridge, Va., Patrick Glenn of Springfield and Bill
Glenn of Arizona; 25 grandchildren; 49 great grandchildren; and 10 great
great grandchildren.  A daughter, Velma Lake, and two grandchildren,
Sandra Linde and Cary Lake, died previously.

  Visitation will be Monday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Lake Memorial Gardens
& Funeral Home in Eugene.  Tuesday's service will be at 3 p.m. at Santa
Clara Church of Christ.  Burial will be private.

  Memorial continuations may be made to Santa Clara Church of Christ.
