HELEN KIERNAN HAMMES

Helen Kirnan Hammes, 45, Lancaster, passed away tragically on October
13, 2011.

Born September 27, 2966 she was the beloved daughter of Robert and
Mary Ellen Kiernan.  Helen was a cum laude graduate of University of
Pennsylvania and a graduate of Lancaster General Hospital School of
Nursing. She was a skilled RN, specializing in Emergency Room care and
worked for various nursing agencies as well as Lancaster General Hospital.

Helen was a unique and brilliant person who lived life to the fullest.
She loved spending time with her family and friends, colling delicious
meals for all to enjoy and relaxining on the Delaware and New Jersey
beaches. She was a master gardner whose arrangements showcased her
artistic talents. She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic
Church.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by the light and joy of her
life, her four children, Peter, Dominic, Ellie and Tess. She will be
dearly missed by her sisters Maryellen Frank (Andrew Frank), Lisa George
(Ronald George), and her nieces and nephews, Robert, Emma, Matthew,
Elizabeth and Charlotte; by her former husband Michael Hammes as well as
a large extended family. Helen also had a special group of friends who
cherished her and were constantly embraced by her generous spirit. She
touched so many lives and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2011
at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 501 E. Orange
Street, Lancaster, Pa. with Rev. Daniel C. Mitzel as Celebrant. Friends
may call at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the
service. Interment in the Millersville Mennonite Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contriburtions may be made to a trust fund for her
