Born Nov. 29, 1915, in New York State, daughter of the late Charles and Pearl Lake. Last surviving member of her immediate family, she is preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Wesley Smeal, and sister, Blanche. Survived by children, Anita Pearl (Lloyd) Grigsby, Fackler, Ala.; Charles Wesley Smeal, Sunbury; Bill (Paula) Smeal, Ebensburg; and George Paul Smeal, Williamsport; grandchildren, Stacie and Steven Smeal, Todd (Tammy) Robinson and Laurie (Jerry) Reeves; stepgrandchild, Joshua; and great-grandson, Samuel Robinson. Helen was a loving mother and grandmother and a devote Christian who assisted her husband in his ministry as pastor of Blue Knob, East Freedom and Canoe Creek United Methodist churches. Friends will be received from 1 p.m. Wednesday until time of funeral service at 3 p.m. at Askew-Houser Funeral Homes Inc., Ebensburg, the Rev. Asa Sherman, officiating.
