Osawatomie KS Henry Franklin Lake 1930-2012 Henry Franklin Lake, 82, Osawatomie, formerly of Blue Mound, died June 26, 2012, at Life Care Center of Osawatomie. Henry was born March 6, 1930, in Blue Mound. He was the fourth of six children born to Oliver Winsett Lake and Eva Josephine Provest Lake. He attended Blue Mound schools and worked for the Blue Mound Street Department. He was married to Martha Ellen Wright. They made their home in Blue Mound and became the parents of three children. The couple moved to Osawatomie in early 2007. He taught his daughter Mary how to drive, and the family liked fishing together. He was a carpenter and liked going to auctions, garage sales and flea markets; he loved collecting things. He loved animals. He kept dogs and loved feeding squirrels, birds and cats, even an iguana. He attended the Xenia, Kan., Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by one infant son, David Lee Lake; one brother, Oliver Winsett Lake Jr.; and two sisters, Elva Knight and Helen Rudisill. He is survived by his wife of the home; one son, Roy Franklin Lake of Ottawa; one daughter, Mary Delores Lake of Osawatomie; two sisters, Mary Yoakum of Blue Mound and Thelma Mata of Kansas City, Kan. Services were Friday at the Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home, 203 Main St., Osawatomie, KS 66064, (913)) 755-2114, followed by a committal service in the Sunny Slope Cemetery in Blue Mound. Memorials are to the Henry Lake Memorial Fund.
