Published in Binghamton Press & Sun-Bulletin on July 23, 2012 Binghamton, NY Inez Lake (1925 - 2012) Newark Valley: Inez R. Lake 86, a long-time resident, was united with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 22, 2012. Inez is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, Walter O. Lake, her children: Mary Brink, Shirley Lake, Barbara (Joseph) Cicchelli, Rev. Robert (Eileen) Lake and her daughter-in-law, Cynthia Lake. Also surviving are her brothers: Frank (Betty), Bert (Betty), Max, Merlin and Carl (CJ) Christian; her sister Frances Bleiler, 19 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Born on Oct. 26, 1925 in Altoona, FL, she was one of 12 children born to Charley and Maude (Hardenstein) Christian. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her first husband, Albert Chapman, a son Donald, 4 sisters, a brother, her son-in-law, Thomas Brink, a granddaughter and 2 great granddaughters. Inez was a graduate of New Albany, PA High School, class of 1943 and a life-long member of the First Baptist Church of Newark Valley. She was a talented seamstress and an employee of the former Mary Lou's Dress Factory in Owego for many years. She was also a member of the Newark Valley and Berkshire Sr. Citizens; enjoyed traveling, gardening and ceramics, a hobby she also taught. Her family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 24, at the First Baptist Church of Newark Valley, from 10:45 until 11:45 am. A funeral service will follow there at 12 noon with Pastor Michael Spiegel officiating. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park.
