27 October 1967 Tonawanda News North Tonawanda, NY Veteran Newsman Dies After Stroke La Mesa, Calif. (UPI) - Ivan E. Lake, a newspaperman in California and Ohio for more than 40 years, died Thursday following a stroke. He was 67. Lake had been a public information coordinator for the San Diego County Civil Defense Office at his death. He was a correspondent for the San Diego Union from 1953-56. Before coming to California, he was employed for 38 years by the Daily Sentinel-Tribune in Bowling Green, Ohio, where he was a reporter, city editor and managing editor.
