The Hawk Eye Burlington, Iowa Thursday, 9/5/2002 Jack Breuer Jack C. Breuer, 77, of Mediapolis, formerly of Burlington, died at 8:06 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2002, at Great River Medical Center. Born Feb. 26, 1925, in Burlington, he was the son of Martin Carl and Nellie Lakey Breuer. He married Daisy McDaniel. He later married Patricia Joan Schilb Bloodworth May 10, 1984, in Burlington. She died Jan. 14, 1995. Mr. Breuer was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the 24th Infantry Division in the South Pacific. He worked for the city of Burlington as custodian at Memorial Auditorium for 17 years, retiring in 1992. He was of the Protestant faith and a former member of the VFW Post 9162, American Legion Post 52 and Eagles Aerie 150. He liked to garden and fish and was active in Steamboat Days after retiring. Survivors include three foster children, Sandra Williams and Robert Acord of Burlington, and Shirley Jeffers of Mary Esther, Fla.; one brother, Harold L. Breuer of West Burlington; two nieces and a number of cousins. He was preceded in death by his wives, his parents and one brother. There will be no visitation. The graveside committal service for Mr. Breuer will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in St. John's Cemetery, rural Burlington. Friends may meet at the gate at 1:15 p.m. Military rites will be conducted by the VFW Posts 10102 and 9162, American Legion Post 52 and the Marine Corps League. A memorial has been established for the Prairie Ridge Care and Rehab Center of Mediapolis.
