Plumas County News, Quincy, CA Aug 14, 2015 Greenhorn resident Jack David Lake passed from this life peacefully, with his loving family at his side, Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2015, at the Veterans Hospital in Reno, Nevada, at the age of 70. Born in Santa Paula, on Sept. 24, 1944, to Lloyd and Pauline (Cordell) Lake, Jack was raised and educated in Fillmore, graduating from Fillmore High School as a member of the class of 1962. Jack entered the military out of high school and went on to serve his country as a member of the U.S. Navy as a Class A Radioman during the Viet Nam War. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to Southern California. While still serving and on shore leave Jack was invited to a local party where he could show off his musical talent as a guitarist and it is here he met a pretty young lady named Susan Mulholland. As their love for one another blossomed, the couple was joined in matrimony in Saratoga on March 2, 1968, and to this union two daughters were born. The newlyweds settled in San Jose, later moving to Salinas where they resided from 1972-1981. Here Jack continued his education at Hartnell Community College and later obtaining his AA Degree in Law Enforcement from San Jose City College. Jack had worked in law enforcement as well as a number of other professions during his life but always returned to his greatest talent, that of an upholsterer - a career that had lasted some 38 years and one he was still dabbling in until his passing. Jack and family moved to Quincy's subdivision of Greenhorn 18 years ago from Vacaville. As a talented guitarist, he will be fondly remembered by the community and Greenhorn Guest Ranch guests for his lead in fireside get-togethers. He loved to tinker and was always looking for a way to make any item better. In passing, Jack leaves his loving wife of over 47 years, Susan, of Greenhorn; daughters, Deborah Dillon, of Vacaville, and Jennifer Taborski and her husband Matthew, of Montesano, Washington; and he is the proud grandfather of Elizabeth, Jessica, Austin, Zachary and Corey, and great-grandfather of Caysen. Jack is also survived by a brother, Joe, of Vacaville. A Celebration of Jack's life is being planned for a later date.
