The Journal-News (Hamilton OH) Tuesday, May 13, 1997, Page A4 James A. Lake, age 81, of Fairfield, died at the Crestwood Care Centr at 9:35 a.m. on May 12, 1997. He was born in Jackson County, Kentucky, October 21, 1915, the son of Frank and Martha (McCowan) Lake. He was educated in the Jackson County schools. He married Opal Elizabeth Medlock on May 8, 1937 and she preceded him in death on May 22, 1989. He was a die-maker and electrician. He worked for J&J Electric Company and with the General Motors Fisher Body Plant for thirty years, retiring on April 23, 1976. He is a member of the Rolling Hills Baptist Church. He was a verteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army. He is survived by five daughters, Wanda Joyce Kiefer and her husband, John, Sonja Hawn, Nancy Clay, all of Fairfield, Austina Gentry and her husband John of Middletown, Martha McDaniel and husband Roy of Nashville, Tennessee; a brother, Billy Jack Lake of Hamilton; sisters, Fanny Cunagin of Fairfield, Josephine Allen of Fairfield, thirteen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Jeffrey Michael Hawn; two sisters, Florence Cox and Jeanette Watkins. Funeral services will be held at the Webb-Noonan Funeral Home, Ross Avenue at South D. St., at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. Phil Taylor, Pastor of Rolling Hills Baptist Church, officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be at Hickory Flat Cemetery.
