Republican News Oakland MD November 10, 2011 James Arden Lake, 85, Midlothian, Va., our beloved father, passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 2011. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Shirley Elaine. James was born in Morgantown, W.Va., reared in Swanton, and graduated from Oakland High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He retired in 1987 as distribution center manager with Safeway Stores in Chester, Va., after beginning his 32-year career as a meat cutter in the Washington, D.C. area. James is survived by his three children, Frances Lake, Sandy Dorsey and husband Paul, and James Lake Jr. and wife Lynn; three grandchildren, Lisa Lawson and husband Wade, Bryan Dorsey and wife Holly, and Katie Demers and husband Troy; three great-grandchildren, Madison, Kayleigh, and Reed; and one step-great-grandchild, Emily. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date in his hometown of Swanton.
