Lancaster Intelligencer Journal; Lancaster PA; 2010-6-12 JAMES O. CASE James O "Jim" Case, 81, passed away June 9, 2010, at Eastern Maine Medical Center. Jim was born Oct. 7, 1928, in Lancaster Pa, the son of Hiram Ulysses and Hattie Good Case. Raised in Lancaster, Pa., Jim was an Eagle Scout at age 13 and graduated from McCaskey High School before going on the Penn State, graduating with a degree in Forestry in 1950. He was married to Elaine, his wife of 59 years. He served 2 years with the US Army Engineer Corp prior to joining the professional staff of Boy Scouts of America where he served for 38 years. He served local councils in Lebanon, Pa, Wilmington Del., Rome, NY, Binghamton NY, Mendham NJ, and Rochester NY where he lived for 31 years prior to moving recently to Orono, Me. During retirement, Jim was a Master Gardener through Cornell University Cooperative Extension for 20 years. Jim is survived by his wife, Elaine Diffenbaugh Case; sisters Arline Cunningham and Janet Pontz; son David and wife Diane; daughter Carol and husband Grover, son Thomas and wife Cindy; and son Douglas and wife LouAnne. Also surviving are grandchildren; Christopher, Gregory, Margaret,Courtney, Thomas Jr., Jennifer,Jeffery, Kelly, Todd, Gracelyn, Mackenzie, Carson,and a very.
