James W. Lake

NEWARK: James W. Lake, 86, of Newark, Ohio, formerly of Toboso, Ohio passed
away Tuesday morning, June 14, 2016 at Arlington Care Center in Newark.

Born March 6, 1930 in Toboso, he was the son of the late Robert C. and Grace
(Lescalleet) Lake and was a 1948 graduate of Hanover-Toboso High School. He
retired from Holophane Corporation of Newark after 37 years of service. His
greatest enjoyment was attending and following the activities of his sons,
his grandchildren and his great grandchildren. He also enjoyed Licking
Valley High School sporting events and other school functions.

Surviving are three sons and daughters in-law, Richard L. and Marilee Lake
of Tipp City, Ohio, Rodney H. and Patricia Lake of Buckeye Lake, Ohio and
Douglas S. and Jennifer Lake of Newark; seven grandchildren, Nicole (Tom)
Evans, Corey (Courtney) Lake, Scotty (Elizabeth) Lake, Lauren (Brandon Wilson)
Lake, Tanner Lake, Ryan Lake and Connor Lake; five great grandchildren,
Cannon, Addison, Avery, Sidney and Bennett and one great grandchild on the
way. Also surviving is a sister, Pauline Caughenbaugh of Toboso.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife of
67 years, Ruth Mary (Varner) Lake, whom he married January 29, 1949 and
who died June 8, 2016, and a brother, Ralph Lake.

Jim's family wishes to give a very special "thank you" to the staff of
Licking Memorial Hematology/Oncology Department, Brookdale Newark and
Arlington Care Center for their wonderful care and love.

Memorial services for both James and his wife, Ruth Mary, are planned
for 2:00pm Saturday, July 23, 2016 in the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute
Funeral Home, 1850 West Main Street. Following the memorial service they
will be laid to rest together at Hanover Cemetery.
