Published in the Deseret News on 3/30/2004 Salt Lake City, UT Jay Charles Lake Together Forever LAYTON - Our father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Jay Charles Lake, age 85, returned to his Father in Heaven and his sweetheart, surrounded by his family, Saturday March 27, 2004. Jay was born July 22, 1918 in Castle Dale, Utah, a son of Asa Robert and Clarissa Williams Lake. He was married to his sweetheart, Elma M. Cox, June 16, 1939 in Castle Dale, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on July 10, 1959. Jay belonged to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many positions throughout his life. Jay served in the Army during World War II and he retired from Hill Air Force Base. He loved his family and spending time with them was his greatest joy. He was preceded in death by his wife Elma, his parents, and one grandson, Kevin Dale Goede. Jay is survived by his seven children Gaylene (Dale) Goede, Dee J. (Susan) Lake, Jack R. Lake, and Wendy (Greg) Fairless, all of Layton, UT; Julie (Craig) Page of Syracuse, UT; Darlene Lake of Liberty, UT; Karen (Mark) Mabson of California; 20 grandchildren and 35 great-grand-children. Services will be held Thursday, April 1, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd.
