Published online Friday, May 26, 2006 in The Californian (sister paper to the North County Times of Escondido, California, USA) Jean Lake, 85 MURRIETA ---- Jean Ivy Lake, 85, died of natural causes, Wednesday, May 24, 2006, in Hemet. Born Nov. 29, 1920, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, she lived in Murrieta for 18 years. She was a member of Murrieta United Methodist Church. She attended the University of Manitoba. She loved animals, gardening and her grandchildren. Mrs. Lake was preceded in death by her parents, Ellen and William Hancock; and brother, William Hancock. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Meno T. Lake of Murrieta; sons and daughters-in-law Bruce Lake of Murrieta, William Lake and Morgan Hodgson of Washington, D.C., Ralph and Janis Lake of Hidden Hills, and Rex and Joan Lake of Rancho Murrieta; daughter and son-in-law, Nora and Chris Brown of Irvine; sister, Betty Lamb of Calgary, Canada; and 15 grandchildren. A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, May 28, at Murrieta United Methodist Church. Private interment at Rose Hills in Whittier is planned.
