From THE REGISTER-GUARD, Eugene, Oregon 15 March, 2000, obituaries: JEAN LAKE A celebration of life will be held March 25 for Jean Lake of Eugene, who died March 12 at age 71. The family chose not to list the cause of death. She was born May 7, 1928, in Eugene to Joe and Lilian Hanselman Maughan. She married Charles Lake in Eugene on June 14, 1947. Lake was a lifetime Eugene resident. She graduated from Eugene High School in 1946 and worked for 42 years at Eugene Granite & Marble as a memorial designer. She liked the outdoors, hunting, fishing and hiking. She and her husband traveled to 49 states. She was an accomplished archer and won many local, state and national championships, including a medal of merit from the National Field Archery Association. She was a Cub Scout den mother and a Girl Scout leader, and a member of the National Field Archery Association, the Oregon Bow Hunters and the Cascadian Bowmen of Eugene. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Jacque Seim of Eugene; three sons, James, Joseph and Johnny, all of Eugene; a sister, Marjorie Snider of Portland; eight grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. The March 25 celebration will be at 11 a.m. at Chapel of Memories Funeral Home in Eugene. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
