Mrs. Lake was born June 7, 1929, and was raised in Marceline, Mo., and was a member of the First Christian Church of Marceline. She graduated from Marceline High School and attended Northeast Missouri State Teaches College, Kirksville, Mo., receiving her teaching degree in elementary education in 1951. She taught third and fourth grades in the Raytown School District, retiring in 1977. She and her husband were active in the Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI and she enjoyed playing bridge and going on cruises. She was preceded in death by her father, Clyde F. Shelton, in 1985. Her survivors include her mother, Opal Shelton; her husband of 52 years, L.B. Lake; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Dana Lake; two granddaughters, Shannon Davis and husband, Shawn, and Candace Deal; an aunt, Helen Ronan; and three cousins, Tom, Paul and Kyle Ronan.
