(nee Prendergast), 71 - of formerly of Drexel Hill, PA and Sea Isle City, died suddenly in Deerfield Beach, FL on April 6, 2004. Survived by husband of 47 years, James P., and nine children: Mary Joan Gardler, Lizanne Newby (Skeeter), Megan Winterle (Francis), Colleen Moretti (Rick), Patti Carroll (Tim), James P. Jr. (Jacqui), Brendan W., Brian D. (Jane), and Colin C. (Traci). Also survived by brother James, sisters: Mary Prendergast, Gertrude Gurt, Rosemary Rixon, and twenty-three grandchildren. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Ardent catholic, who practiced, preached and taught Christian principals. Joan had a clear sense and understanding of human nature. She used these people skills to bring kindness to people with problems, sorrows, or personal loss. A 1951 graduate of Gwynedd Mercy Academy, Joan gained these beautiful qualities from her marriage, her God, and the wonderful Gwynedd Mercy nuns she loved so dearly.
