Coos County Democrat; Lancaster NH; 2001-4-11 John C. Lake KINGSTON, N.H. -- John Charles Lake, 75, of Danville Road, died Sunday at the Catholic Medical Center in Manchester. He had resided in Kingston for the past 40 years. Mr. Lake was a World War II Navy veteran and a survivor of the kamikaze sinking of the USS Luce, DD-552, off Okinawa Island on May 4, 1945. He received the Purple Heart. Mr. Lake was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars Maple Wheadon Post 4479 of Raymond. He was a member of the Plaistow Fish and Game Club. Mr. Lake was the widower of Dorothy W., who died Oct. 23, 1991. He is survived by his daughter Lucy Johnson and her husband Daniel; stepsons, Stanley Haywood of Exeter and Fred Haywood of Kissimmee, Fla.; brothers, Bill of Arizona, and Bob of Webster; sisters, June Logan of Port Charlotte, Fla., Ann Lake of Reading, Mass., and Ruth Mailhot of Colebrook; two granddaughters, five stepgrandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be tomorrow from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter, N.H. Burial will be in Corser Hill Cemetery, Webster, N.H.
