Kansas City Star; Kansas City MO; 2007-10-9 Lake, John David John David Lake (1957-2007) was taken too soon from this world on Wednesday, October 3, 2007. 50 years old, John was born in Flint, Mich., but was a Kansas City resident since 1967. Throughout his youth he was active in competitive swimming, soccer, Scouting, theatre and literary pursuits. John attended Shawnee Mission Northwest High School and the University of Kansas. John's greatest passion was the arts, especially literature, and most of his career path was in the retail book business. He also loved pets and animals, and cared for many non-human friends throughout his life. John was known and loved by many and all who knew him were touched and influenced by his wisdom, insights, sly humor, patience, and understanding. He selflessly shared these qualities socially, at work, and with an extended online audience where he loved to write to and for people all around the world. John was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mary Suzanne Lake. He leaves his life partner of 12 years, Alfred Scudiero, his brothers, Bob (wife Marilyn) and Tom (wife Deni) Lake, nephew Justin Lake, and niece Rebecca Lake. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 10, at the Metropolitan Community Church at 3801 Wyandotte St., Kansas City.
