Norwich Bulletin; Norwich CT; 2001-1-16 John E. Lake Sept. 24,1927 - Jan. 15,2001 NORWICH - John Emory Lake ,73, of Norman Road, formerly of Antioch, Ill., died Monday at The William W. Backus Hospital. He was born Sept. 24,1927, in Chicago, a son of the late Emory J. and Gladys (Menard) Lake. On Oct. 7, 1950, in Antioch, he married Helen Wolf. Mr. Lake served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was employed for many years as a factory worker. Mr. Lake was a member of the Leffingwell Baptist Church. In addition to his wife of 50 years, he is survived by a son, Larry J. Lake of Lindenhurst, Ill.; a daughter, Luann Knieser of Norwich; four grandsons and three great-grandchildren. Funeral Service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, at the Leffingwell Baptist Church, Route 82, Bozrah. A calling hour will be from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery in Norwich. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leffingwell Baptist Church, P.O. Box 250, Bozrah, CT 06334. The Church & Allen Funeral Home, 136 Sachem St., Norwich is in charge of the arrangements.
