John is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Mary O'Brien Kernan; children, Mary Catherine Kernan and her daughters, Kaitlin and Molly Kernan Herbert, John J. Kernan, Patricia and her husband David Ferrante and their children, Emily, Nicholas, and Theresa Ferrante, Kathleen and her husband Edward Fowler and their children EJ and Madison Fowler, William Kernan and his wife, Lisa Marie and their children, Abigail, William Jr. and Olivia Kernan, Theresa and her husband Ken Shoemaker and their children, Alex, Matthew, and Brock Shoemaker, Kevin Kernan and his wife, Tiffany and their children, Morrisey, John Aloysius, and Katherine Kernan, Thomas Kernan and his wife, Michele and their children, Erin Shea, and Nathan Kernan; sister and brother-in-law, Edna and Joseph Vay, sisters-in-law, Julia Ranson, and Rosella and her husband James Burns; cousins, Shirley Spiggle, Mark and his wife Carol Costello, Marjean and her husband James Hart, and Marcia Mason; many nieces, nephews and friends from both Rochester and the Thousand Islands. Predeceased by his parents, Aloysius and Mae Kernan; sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Andrew Decker and brother-in-law Joseph Ranson. John was a Navy Veteran serving on the U.S.S. Ticonderoga, he graduated from R.I.T. and retired as the Vice President of Harris Corporation. John's love and passion was his time spent on the St. Lawrence River surrounded by his family and friends. His family will receive friends THURSDAY 3-7pm and FRIDAY 3-7pm at the funeral home. Friends are invited to meet the family SATURDAY 10:00 AM at HOLY CROSS CHURCH for his Funeral Mass. Entombment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
