Published in Patriot-News on 5/21/2009 Harrisburg PA John H. Case of Harrisburg entered into life March 1, 1918, and entered into eternal life May 18, 2009. John's favorite word was enthusiasm, from the Greek en theos ("God within"). John grew up in Morristown, NJ and spent his summers as a youth hiking, swimming, and fishing in the Adirondack Mountains in Keene Valley, NY. He worked as a roughneck in the Texas oilfields, married his beloved wife Betsey in 1939, became an All-American lacrosse player at Dartmouth College, enlisted in the U.S. Army after Pearl Harbor, and served in the 10th Mountain Division during World War II. After the war, John and Betsey raised their three children in Harrisburg, PA, where John served as marketing director for Berg Manufacturing, and then started his consulting business, Case Resources. John loved people, and he loved to inspire them. He published a book of inspirational sayings, titled "Courage and Confidence" in which John wrote, "Leadership . . . calls for an indomitable attitude. The weeds of negativity and doubt need to be pulled before they take root. The best way to do this is to replace them with strong, positive, inspiring thoughts." John is survived by his daughter, Sally Park; his sons, John and Will Case: nine grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren (with more expected soon). John signed his letters "Love and courage." These words describe how John faced the end of his earthly life, with his best friend, Rick Zlogar, at his side when he passed. We will miss him. Memorial service will be held Saturday, May 23rd, 2009 at 2 p.m., at the Hetrick Funeral Home, 3125 Walnut Street, Harrisburg. Condolences can be shared at www. hetrickfuneralhome.com Hetrick
