Lake, 80, formerly of Shreve, and a resident of the Wayne County Care Center, entered into rest, Friday evening, March 9, 2001, at Wooster Community Hospital, following a short illness. Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Wayne County Care Center Chapel, Wooster, with the Rev. Rufus Thompson officiating, followed by interment at Newkirk Cemetery, Shreve. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, Wooster, and one-half hour prior to services at the Wayne County Care Center. A Masonic Service will be held at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home conducted by Garfield Lodge No. 528 of Shreve. Memorial contributions may be made to Tadmore Shriners, 3300 Krebs Ave., Akron 44310. Mr. Lake was born on Jan 2, 1921, in Holmes County, to Henry D. and Catherine (Kyser) Lake and moved to Wayne County in 1952. He was a press operator for Rubbermaid, Wooster, for 28 years before retiring in 1973. He had been a member of the former Greater Life Chapel Church of Wooster, Scottish Rite 32nd Degree of Canton, Masonic Lodge No. 528 of Shreve, Order of Eastern Star Lodge No. 496 of Shreve, Council No. 13 of Wooster, Commandery No. 48 of Wooster, Royal Arch Masons King Cyrus No. 207 of Loudonville, White Shrine Damascus N. 11 of Wooster, Knights Mason of Akron and Tadmor Shrine Temple of Akron. He is survived by several nieces and nephews, cousins and an aunt, Ivy Kyser of Ashland. He is preceded in death by a brother, Earl Lake, a half-sister, Mary Lake and a half-brother, Arthur Lake.
