Toronto Star; Toronto ON Canada; 2004-11-20 LAKE, John Leonard Sr. - Passed away, after a lengthy battle with cancer, on Thursday, November 18, 2004, in his 80th year. Born in West Hill to George and Alice Lake, he served in W.W. II, employed 32 years as a TTC and Grey Coach driver, retiring in 1980. He was active in Minor Hockey as a coach at Ted Reeve Arena for many years. Predeceased by his wife Nel in 2000, survived by his son John Jr., daughters Sharon Nelson, Jonnelle Flatt, and grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ross Memorial Hospital Palliative Care Unit, in Lindsay, Ontario, would be greatly appreciated, in recognition of the compassionate care he received there. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no service or interment; cremation has been arranged.
