Published in the Florida Times-Union from 9/12/2004 - 9/14/2004. Jacksonville FL Jonathan E. Lake LAKE U.S. Army Col. Jonathan E. Lake, 44, passed away 6, September from injuries suffered in an automobile accident. Col. Lake was assigned as Brigade Commander of the National Training Center at Fort Irwin, CA. Jonathan is the son of long time Westside residents, Retired Navy Master Chief Petty Officer, Cecil E. and Marie F. Lake. He was born 25 June 1960 at the Naval Hospital, Portsmouth, VA. He is a graduate of Old Dominion University where he received a BSA in Criminal Justice. He has Master Degrees from Central Michigan University and from Quais-I-Azam University, Islamabad Pakistan. He was Commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Quartermaster Corps in August 1982. He has served in a variety of assignments, including Desert Shield and Desert Storm. His combat and peacetime awards include, The Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Army Reserve Medal, Defense Ser vice Medal, Overseas Service Medal, Southeast Asia Medal, Kuwait Liberation Medal, Army Superior Unit Medal, Joint Staff Badge, Parachutist Badge, Rigger Badge, and Air Assault Badge. Jonathan was a true patriot who dearly loved his family and country. He is survived by his wife, Dagmar, a native of Waldmohr, Germany; his parents; sisters, Sandra Ottum of Orlando, FL and Donna Belzer of Boynton Beach, FL; three brothers, Edward Lake, George Weeks, and Richard Weeks all of Jacksonville and 14 nieces and nephews. We love you dearly Jon and will miss you greatly. Funeral services in celebration of his life will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 15, 2004 at JACKSONVILLE MEMORY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME, 111 Blanding Blvd., Orange Park, FL. Interment will follow in the Garden of the Good Shepherd at Jacksonville Memory Gardens. Family and friends will gather from 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday, September 14, 2004 at the address above.
