Daily Record Morris County, NJ Joseph Lake MORRIS PLAINS Published on 03/23/2002. MORRIS PLAINS - Joseph Lake died Thursday at home after a long illness. He was 76. Born in Morris Township, and formerly of Morristown, he lived in Morris Plains for 49 years. Mr. Lake was a Navy veteran and served as a gunner's mate 1st class during World War II. He received the Navy Cross on Jan. 3, 1945, while in the Philippines. Mr. Lake was a self-employed television repairman for 40 or more years. Survivors include his wife, Janet (Thompson); four daughters, Janet C. Sullivan of Kennet Square, Pa., Deborah Wurzer of Morris Township, Sharon L. Ritter of Morristown, and Beverly S. Fisher of Morris Plains; four sons, Joseph A. Jr. of Randolph, Jeffery W. of Denville, Robert B. of Morris Township, and Willliam E. of Morris Plains; three sisters, Margaret Mandeville of Morristown, Winifred Smith of Lake Hopatcong, and Evelyn Lea of Hollywood, Fla.; 25 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Virgil's Church in Morris Plains. Interment will be in Holy Rood Cemetery in Morris Township. Visiting hours are Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Doyle Funeral Home, 106 Maple Ave., Morristown. (23, 24)
