JOSEPH LAKE DIES AFTER OPERATION" Captain Joseph L. Lake, 39, brother of Captain James Lake of "Harry Moore", which was christened last fall and the first electric ferry boat to be run on the Hudson, died yesterday in St. Mary's Hospital following an Operation for appendicitis. He, himself, had been a familiar figure on the Hudson, having skippered the "Richard Card" for the past 20 years. Mr. Lake served in the regular army in the Spanish-American War. He was the son of Cassidy Lake and Josephine Lake, nee Casey, and the husband of Abbie, nee Dwyer. He was a member of the Palisade Council No. 387, K. of C. of St. Lawrence's Holy Name Society and Associated Marine Workers. Beside his wife he is survived by four small children: Joseph Jr., 7; George 5; Rita 2; and Marie 16 months; and two brothers, William and James. The funeral will be held from the home at 59 Hackensack Plank Road, Weehawken, Monday morning at 9:30 and solemn requiem mass will be said in St. Lawrence Church at 10 o'clock. Interment will be in Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City. John F. O'Hara & Sons in charge of arrangements.
