Springfield News-Leader; Springfield MO; 2006-1-22 Josephine L. Cummings Josephine L. Cummings, age 88, of Henderson, Nev., passed away Thursday, January 19, 2006, in Mountain View Hospital in Henderson. Born in Cole Camp, Mo., she was one of seven children: brothers, Peter and Calvin; sisters, Clara, Niki, Kaye and Mitzi. She was blessed with an abundance of musical talent and energy. She was a successful business owner during a period of time when the business world had limited opportunities for women. Only rarely did she yield to her son's reasons to miss church. Her faith in and devotion to God was unequivocal. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was preceded in death by her mother, Claire Muller Lakin and father, Ira B. Lakin. Josephine is survived by a son, Jay Cummings and his wife, Susie; three granddaughters, Lori and Jim Welch, Stephanie and Joseph Reid, and Sharron Leigh Cummings; two great-grandchildren, Evan and Jack Reid; and one sister, Mitzi Davis, Kansas City, Mo. Graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, January 25, 2006, in Maple Park Cemetery under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. No visitation is scheduled, however friends may come by after 1 p.m. Tuesday, in the funeral home.
