The News-Gazette, Champaign, IL; 12/1/04 Joyce Hardesty CHAMPAIGN -- Memorial services for Joyce "Joy" Hardesty, 68, of Champaign will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, 210 W. Church St., C. Dr. Terry Harter will officiate. Burial will be in Dodge Grove Cemetery, Mattoon. Visitation will follow the memorial services at the church. Heath and Vaughn Funeral Home, 201 N. Elm St., C, is handling arrangements. Mrs. Hardesty died at 10:35 p.m. Sunday (Nov. 28, 2004) at ManorCare Health Services of Champaign. She was born Feb. 14, 1936, in Detroit, a daughter of Charles and Leona Moyer Lake. She married Jerome Hardesty on June 9, 1957, in Champaign. He survives. Also surviving are two sons, Jeff Hardesty of Key West, Fla., and Joe Hardesty of Menlo Park, Calif.; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister and a daughter. Mrs. Hardesty graduated from York High School, Elmhurst, and from the University of Illinois in 1957, with a degree in math education. She was a homemaker. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir. She was also a member of the church alumni and Stafford House at the UI.
