Listowel Banner; Listowel ON Canada; 2011-12-14 Joyce Lake of Listowel and formerly of Atwood, passed away peacefully at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Friday, Dec 9, 2011 at the age of 82. Joyce was a member of Atwood United Church, Atwood U.C.W. and the former Atwood Lioness Club. Beloved wife of the late Charles Lake, who predeceased her in 1998. Loving mother of Carolyn (Deceased) and Barry Heinmiller of Palmerston, Marie and Ray Baerg of Blair, Gail and Scott Pearson of Delaware, Linda and David Ballantyne of New Hamburg, and Susie and Chad Gross of Millbank. Special grandma of Lisa, Kent, and Kelly, Adam (deceased) Cory, Jackie and Steve, Jenny and Ed, Alex, Philip, Ethan, Jason and Amber, Bailey, Shay, Callie, and Drew; Great-grandma of Laurin, Gavin, Allie, Kassidy, Kennedy, Izaac, Jakob, Talbot and Charlie. Fondly remembered by her brother Bill Thorton, brother-in-law Audruino Stefani of King City and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Anson and Lottie (Cathers) Thorton, son Gerald in infancy, sisters Loreen and Mary, and brothers Jack and Doran. Joyce's family invited relatives and friends to share their memories at the Brenneman Funeral Home, Atwood on Monday, Dec. 12 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A memorial service to celebrate her life was held at Atwood United Church on Tuesday, Dec. 13 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Michelle Owens officiating. Private family interment in Elma Centre Cemetery, Atwood.
