Topeka Capital-Journal; Topeka KS; 2011-3-1 Judy Gayle LAKE, 68, of Topeka, died Sunday, February 27, 2011 at St Francis Health Center. Judy was born December 19, 1942 in Ottawa (KS), the daughter of Edgar Loyd CANNADY PETERS. She was a retired Executive Assistant for Financial Service Corporation in Atlanta GA. She moved back to Kansas after her retirement to be a "full-time Grandma" and took a position with the Kansas Department of Education until Grayson was born. She babysat both grandbabies when they were newborns and loved holding those babies. Judy was a baptized member of the Methodist faith. She was a seamstress, an avid reader and flower gardener who loved traveling, crocheting and watching her grandchildren. She recently helped plan her 50th high school reunion in Ottawa where she graduated in 1960. She is survived by her son, L "Todd" WALBURN and his wife, Melissa HUNSICKER-WALBURN of Hays (KS), formerly of Topeka; a brother, James "Mike" Michael PETERS of Savannah GA; a grandson, Grayson, and a granddaughter, Kennedy. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:30p Wednesday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 1:00pm Thursday at the funeral home. Cremation will follow with inurnment in Princeton (KS) Cemetery at a later date.
