In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Kansas City Chapter of the Lupus Foundation. Cookie was born Sept. 23, 1949 in Wichita, KS. She attended high school in Wichita and then attended Clarke College in Dubuque, IA. Cookie served as a flight attendant for Braniff Airlines and then as an office manager for Dr. Kelly Toombs. She is survived by her husband of 26 years, Joseph Lake; mother and father, PollyAnn and E.H. Toombs of Wichita; brothers, Randy Toombs of Ft. Worth, TX, Kelly Toombs of Prairie Village; children, Jeffrey Lake, Jennifer L. Lake, Nikki K. Hedenskog, David R. Lake, Casey H.
