LEAWOOD - Lake, Julia "Cookie," 55, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2005
at St. Joseph Health Center following a prolonged battle with Systemic
Lupus. A memorial service will be held today at 1 p.m. at McGilley
State Line Chapel, 12301 State Line Rd., Kansas City, MO. Cremation.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Kansas
City Chapter of the Lupus Foundation. Cookie was born Sept. 23, 1949
in Wichita, KS. She attended high school in Wichita and then attended
Clarke College in Dubuque, IA. Cookie served as a flight attendant for
Braniff Airlines and then as an office manager for Dr. Kelly Toombs.
She is survived by her husband of 26 years, Joseph Lake; mother and
father, PollyAnn and E.H. Toombs of Wichita; brothers, Randy Toombs of
Ft. Worth, TX, Kelly Toombs of Prairie Village; children, Jeffrey Lake,
Jennifer L. Lake, Nikki K. Hedenskog, David R. Lake, Casey H. Williams;
grandchildren, Madison Lynn Hearne, Evan Christopher Hearne, Halle
Kate Hedenskog, Oliver Scott Lake. Cookie was a generous, loving and
giving mother and grandmother, who brought great joy and love to her

Former Emporia resident Julia K. "Cookie" Lake, 55, of Leawood died
Tuesday, July 5, 2005, at St. Joseph Health Center. She had systemic
lupus.  Mrs. Lake is survived by her husband, Joseph Lake; five children;
her mother and father, E.H. and PollyAnn Toombs of Wichita; two brothers;
and four grandchildren.  The service will be at 1 p.m. in McGilley State
Line Chapel at Kansas City, Mo.  Mrs. Lake was cremated.  The family
suggests that, instead of flowers, memorial contributions be made to
the Kansas City Chapter of the Lupus Foundation and sent in care of the
funeral home, 12301 State Line Road, Kansas City, MO 64145.
