Katherine Emily Lakins Elkins

Katherine Emily Lakins Elkins, 66, Seymour, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2005,
at St. Francis Hospital, Beech Grove.

Mrs. Elkins retired in 2003 from Schneck Medical Center and was a
certified nurse's assistant at Lutheran Community Home, Seymour. She
belonged to the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the Moose
Lodge-Ladies of Moose. She lived most of her life in Jackson County.

Born July 5, 1938, at Carrolton, Ky., she was a daughter of Charlie and
Lola Ridge, who preceded her in death. On June 4, 1984, she married Paul
Elkins at Wise, Va., and he preceded her in death in 1990.

She is survived by four sons, Fred Lakins, Plainfield, David Lakins,
Danville, Danny Lakins, Alabama, and Paul Edward Elkins, Seymour; three
daughters, Lisa Lakins Gridley, Bainbridge, Rhonda Lakins Bozarth,
Commiskey, and LaDonna Lakins Knight, Indianapolis; one Sister,
Carole Jean Donnell, Crothersville; 17 grandchildren; and three
great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by a brother, Monty Ridge, and a grandson.

The Rev. John Parsley will conduct funeral services at 1 p.m. Wednesday
at Voss and Sons Funeral Service, Voss Chapel, Seymour, with burial at
Riverview Cemetery, Seymour.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from noon until time
of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
