The Vindicator - Wednesday, October 6, 2003 Youngstown OH Kathryne Lakos, 65 Liberty Township - Kathryne Lakos, 65, formerly of Dravis Avenue in Girard, passed away early Saturday morning at Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital. She had suffered from rheumatoid arthritis. Mrs. Lakos was born July 13, 1938 in Youngstown, a daughter of Carl Walter Hoffman Sr. and Victoria Elizabeth Yaskulka-Hoffman, and lived much of her life in the area. She had been a theatrical makeup artist, was an instructor of cosmetology at Mohawk School of Cosmetology in New York, was the owner of Lakos, New York Beauty Lounge and of Merle Norman Cosmetic Studio of Girard, was an instructor of cosmetology at Choffin Vocational School, was a district manager for half the United States for Merle Norman, was an Avon representative and worked for Arand Rynhart as a perfumist in San Jose, Calif. She was a member of St. Rose and St. Casimir churches, the Infant Jesus of Prague Young Ladies Sodality, the Rosary Society and the Girard Welcome Wagon Committee and was past chairwoman of Operating Engineers Local 66. She was an inspiration to Tri Changes Salon in Girard and was known for her strong will, unique personality and for providing encouraging words of wisdom. Her wit, good sense of humor and positive personality will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Mrs. Lakos enjoyed playing bingo and telling stories to her grandchildren who will grow with the knowledge she left them. She enjoyed movies, especially "Gilbert Grape" and "The Parent Trap." Her husband, Anthony Martin Lakos Jr., whom she married Aug. 31, 1957, died Aug. 10, 1999. She leaves three daughters, Kimberly M. (Justin) Beach of Lakemore, Ill., and Sherry M. (Atty. Robert Jr.) Johnson and Heidi M. (Michael) Redmond, both of McDonald; two sisters, Rose Marie (Louis) Bruno of Napa Valley, Calif., and Virginia Walters of Austintown; a brother, Frank (Sophie) Hoffman of Youngstown; and six grandchildren, Justin Garrett Beach Jr., Anthony John Beach, Robert Lawrence Johnson III, Samantha Victoria Johnson, Michael Anthony Redmond and Hunter Jane Redmond. A son, Anthony M. Lakos III, and three brothers, Carl Hoffman Jr. and Joseph and Albert Hoffman, are deceased. Her journey on earth is now complete, and she will rest in peace with her loving husband and beloved son, leaving the family she adored and cherished behind. Family and friends may call Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Kinnick Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home and at 11 a.m. at St. Rose Church in Girard. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
