Kazue (Kay) Irisa Lake obituary - The Manhattan Mercury, Sunday, June 4, 2006, Manhattan, Kansas Kazue Irisa Lake, 75 of Olathe, died Saturday of natural causes in the home she shared with her daughter and son-in-law, Louise and Curtis Archie. She was born on April 26, 1931 in Kagoshima, Japan, the daughter of Noriyuki Irisa and Matsue Nakamura. On April 28, 1954, in Tokyo, Japan, she was united in marriage to Melvin D. Lake. He preceded her in death in 1993. They raised their four daughters in Browns Mills, N.J., before returning to Manhattan in 1977. In 1999, she moved to Olathe to live with her daughter Louise's family. Kay was a gifted dancer in traditional Japanese folk dance and performed in New Jersy and Kansas. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother. She is survived by four daughters, Linda K. Steigerwald of Columbus, N. J., Louise A Archie and her husband, Curtis of Olathe, Kan., and Marcia D. Haase of Manhattan; five grandchildren, Devin Archie, Brandon Steirgerwald, Lindsay Steigerwald, Terrance Haase and Kenji Llewellyn, as well as a host of neices, nephews, in-laws and many, many friends. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Chapel. Interment will be in the Ashland Cemetery, followed by a reception at the Ashland Community Chuch. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.ymlfuneralhome.com.
