Casper Star Tribune; Casper WY; 2003-11-28 Kenda Rae Lake CASPER - Services for Bar Nunn resident Kenda Rae Lake, 7, will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1, at Highland Park Community Church. Interment will be in Highland Cemetery. Visitation will be front 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 30, at Memorial Chapel Funeral Home and Crematory. Kenda died Nov. 21, 2003, at Children's Hospital in Denver, from a heart rejection. Born April 25, 1996, in Casper, she was the daughter of Doug and Robin Lake; received a heart transplant at 22 months; and, at age 6, was diagnosed with lymphoma cancer on Nov. 28, 2002. She fought hard to beat the cancer and succeeded. A student at Bar Nunn School, she enjoyed the outdoors and was always running up the alley or jumping on the trampoline; and loved her dogs, Sadie and Peabody. In October, she began rejecting her heart. She had lived each day of her life to its fullest and never considered herself delicate or different in any way. Kenda was known for her sense of humor; laughter was her medicine. Survivors include her parents; sister, Brittany; Labradors and a 30-lb. rabbit; great-great-grandmother; two great-grandmothers; grandparents; three aunts and an uncle and their families; and many great-uncles and great-aunts. She was preceded in death by her grandfather and great-grandparents. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Jason's Friends Foundation and left at Memorial Chapel.
