Kenneth "Ken" Roscoe Robbins, Sr., 85, of Mechanicsburg died Wednesday, September 21, 2011, at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill. He was born on Sunday, December 6, 1925, in Hazelton the son of the late Theodore Roscoe and Elsie May (Manning) Robbins. Ken married his sweetheart, Laura E. (Leitzel) Robbins, on June 27, 1947. Ken was a proud Navy Veteran who served in WWII and a long-time Naval Reservist. He served 18 months in both Bainbridge, Maryland and Kiska Alaska. Ken was awarded the: Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Philippine Liberation, Asiatic Pacific Star, American Area. Ken was a retired carpenter who, along with his sons, built two of his family member's homes. Ken was a private pilot who enjoyed the excitement of flying acrobatic bi-planes. He loved ice and roller skating as well as riding his Harley. Ken was dedicated to helping others and to spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was the miniature golf and Chuck-E-Cheese grandfather and he spend a tremendous amount of time caring for his grandchildren through the years. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. Ken's survivors include his loving wife of 64 years: Laura E. (Leitzel) Robbins; his daughter: Kenda Carrier and her husband David of Bristol TN.; his four sons: Kenneth Robbins, Jr. and his wife Crista of York Springs, Keith Robbins and his wife Barbara of Dover, Kevin Robbins and his wife Karen of Camp Hill, Kerry Robbins and his wife Melissa of Dover; nine grandsons; five granddaughters; twelve great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Among those preceding Ken in death are his brother: Theodore Eugene Robbins and his sister: Edith Pauline Baylor.
