Larry Jay Lake, aged 78, of 905 Old Spanish Trail, Bay Saint Louis,
MS, passed away on Sunday, March 17 at Canon Inpatient Hospice, after
battling cancer. He was surrounded by family.

He was born in Hemlock, Michigan on July 21, 1934 to his parents, Hector
Jay Lake and Thelma Langford Lake. He was married to Elizabeth Lorraine
Hobart on March 9, 1957 in Mystic, Connecticut.

LCdr Lake, began his naval career when he enlisted in December, 1951,
in Saginaw Michigan. On February 28, 1975, he retired from the Navy
after an exemplary twenty three years of service to his country.

After his retirement from the Navy, LCdr Lake worked for 20 years for the
Hartford Steam Boiler, headquartered in Hartford, Ct. Upon retirement,
he enjoyed the camaraderie of other military retirees at the local
VFW. He also was an avid animal lover and took immense pleasure in
making sure that any strays were fed on a regular basis, including
the local raccoon family. One of his greatest joys was babysitting his
granddaughter, Hannah.

LCdr Lake is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly
E. Lake and Kevin S. Fitzpatrick of Waveland, MS; granddaughter,
Hannah E. Fitzpatrick,Waveland,MS; sisters, Jean Garske, Betty Kaiser,
Kay Miller, Shelly Williams, Janice Larsen, Dawn Umphrey, Candice Lake;
brothers, Frank Lake, Ronald Lake, Roger Lake, Gordon Lake, Bruce Lake,
Keith Lake, Greg Lake, all of Michigan. Ten nieces and twenty nephews,
numerous great-neices and nephews, many friends, one dog and several cats.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Hector Jay Lake and Thelma
Langford Lake. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Hobart
Lake, who passed away on June 9, 1995; an infant son, Jonathon Jay Lake,
who died on December 21, 1957 and a brother, Lynn Lake.

A Military Burial Service will be held at the Biloxi National Cemetery
on Friday, March 29, 2013, 2:30PM, 400 Veterans Avenue, Biloxi. Please
