Tyler Morning Telegraph Tyler, TX Thursday, September 22, 2005 Section: B, Page: 5B Laverne Banks Jacksonville--- Services for Laverne Banks, 84, Georgetown, formerly of Jacksonville, are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Friday at Crestview Baptist Church, Georgetown, with the Rev. Dan Wooldridge officiating. Graveside services are scheduled for 4 p.m. at Jacksonville City Cemetery, Jacksonville, under direction of Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville. Mrs. Banks died Sept. 21, 2005 She was born Jan. 13, 2005, in Panola County to the late Malcolm and Opal Griffith Lake. She graduated form Jacksonville High School and received her bachelor's and master's degree from Stephen F. Austin State University. She also did post-graduate work in Arizona State University, University of Oregon and in the Galapagos Islands. She was a member of Crestview Baptist Church of Georgetown, where she worked in the office for more than 10 years, sang in the Senior Adult Choir, served as a Sunday schoolteacher and as an officer in the local and national WMUs. She was preceded in death by her husband of 23 years, Claude E. Banks on July 31, 1963. Survivors include sons, Jon Banks, Dallas and Dr. Michael Banks, Jacksonville; daughter, Nanci Bush, Georgetown; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are John Banks, Andy Ebert, Joe Graham, John Mezo, Michael Pond and Derek Woodley. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Gabriels Funeral Chapel, Georgetown.
