The Daily Journal Vineland NJ Monday, November 8, 2010 LEON ROBBINS JR., 84 World War II Navy veteran; founder of band Leon Robbins Jr., 84, of Port Norris died Saturday morning, Nov. 6, 2010, at the Maurice House in Millville. Born in Port Norris, he was a lifetime resident, and he was the son of the late Leon H. and Alma DeMaris Robbins Sr., and the husband of the late Mary Carolyn Robbins. Mr. Robbins was a World War II Navy veteran. He owned and operated the Robbins Brothers Oyster Company, and Lola's Place Jewelry Shop in Port Norris. He also was the founder of the Brown Street Chowder Society Band. Mr. Robbins was a member of the Port Norris Baptist Church. Surviving, are his son, Stephen R. Robbins Sr. and his wife Brenda of Tenn.; daughter, Carolyn Lee Robbins of Vineland; brother, David Robbins and his wife Joan of Mauricetown; grandchildren, Pamela Hager, Stephen R. Robbins Jr. of Ga. and Mary Christen Robbins of Tenn.; great-grandchildren, Michael Mathew Hager of Ga. and Anthony W. Robbins of Landisville. Graveside funeral services will be held at Haleyville Cemetery at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Kelly Senn officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Hoffman Funeral Homes, Port Norris.
