I will post the one from June 28 and then add anything pertinent from the one June 30. Leon Walter LAKE, 51, Topeka (KS), died Sunday, June 17, 1999, at a Topeka hospital. He suffered complications die to a brain aneurysm. He was born July 29, 1947, near Melvern (KS), to Myron Vincent and Velma Marie COBLE LAKE. He spent his early life in the Melvern community and graduated from Melvern High School in 1965. He and his sons owned and operated Leon Lake Construction. He established the business in 1973. He was a member of the Army National Guard and served a year in Vietnam with the 65th Infantry. He married Patricia Ann OLINGHOUSE Dec 21, 1968, near Shipshewana IN. She survives. Other survivors include sons, Leon "Wayne" LAKE, Topeka, and Eric Vincent LAKE, Lenexa (KS); his father, Myron Vincent LAKE, Melvern; brothers, Marvin Vincent LAKE, Waverly (KS), Donald Keith LAKE, Topeka, and Myron Dean LAKE, St Marys (KS); and a sister, Cathy Marie LUNDQUIST, Easley SC. Services will be at 11am Wednesday at Parker-Price Mortuary. A Fort Riley detail will conduct graveside services at Rochester Cemetery. Mr Lake will lie in state after 9am Tuesday at the mortuary where relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 8pm Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity, 1000 Hancock, Topeka 66607, or to the organization of the donor's choice. From June 30th: "he served a year in Vietnam with the 69th Infantry." The 69th would be correct as this was a very large contingent of National Guardsmen sent to Vietnam from the Topeka area.
