Billerica Minuteman; Needham MA; 2006-9-28 BEDFORD, N.H. - Lillian J. (Lake) Friberg, 88, formerly of Billerica, died Saturday, Sept. 23, 2006, at Harborside Northwood Nursing Home in Bedford. She was the wife of the late Elmer G. Friberg. She was born in Medford on Jan. 9, 1918, the daughter of the late William and Ethel (Galley) Lake. Mrs. Friberg was a resident of Billerica for more than 50 years. Mrs. Friberg, who always enjoyed knitting, joined a craft class at the Billerica Senior Center. One of the group's projects was knitting hats for newborns. She made and delivered thousands of hats for newborns to area hospitals for more than 10 years. She was honored for her outstanding community service and dedication in a special Service of Recognition at the North Billerica Baptist Church in 2001, where she had been a member since 1959. She is survived by a son, Richard Friberg of Stoughton; a daughter, Elizabeth Friberg-Doyon of Merrimack; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was also the mother of the late Sandra (Friberg) Motto, and the sister of the late Ruth Clougherty. Burial was in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica.
