The Saratogian; Saratogian Springs NY; 1903-5-14 Mrs. James R. S. Lakey Mrs. James R. S. Lackey died yesterday at her home in New York City. Mrs. Lakey will be remembered as Lisa Thayer, formerly, and for many years a resident of this village, where she was well known in social circles. The remains were brought to this village late this afternoon for interment in the family plot in Greenridge Cemetery. The Saratogian; Saratogian Springs NY; 1903-5-15 Mrs. James R. S. Lake News of the death of Mrs. James R. S. Lake, formerly Miss Lisa Thayer of this village, came as a sad shock and surprise yesterday to her many friends in Saratoga. Mrs. Lake's death occurred at her home at Great Neck, L.I. on Wednesday and was caused by an abscess from which she had been suffering for a month and which gradually sapped her vitality. She was conscious until death relieved her. The remains were brought to this village late yesterday afternoon for interment in Greenridge Cemetery. They were accompanied by her husband and a close friend of his, Mr. Thompson. Owing to the fact that Mr. Lake's mother is at the point of death at her home in New York, it was possible to have read simply the Episcopal burial service, which was done by the Rev. Joseph Carey, D. D., rector of Bethesda Parish, at Greenridge Cemetery, where interment was made in the family plot. Mr. Lake left on the next train for his mother's bedside. The deceased, who was the daughter of the late Clark Thayer and Frances Verbeck, was born in this village in January, 1876. Her home had always been in Saratoga until after her mother's death something less than four years ago. She was a graduate of Temple Grove Seminary of the class of 1895. As Miss Thayer she was especially popular among a wide circle of friends and acquaintances in this village because of her charming manner, sunny disposition and other attractive qualities.
