Lloyd Robert Lake Dunn County News, Wednesday, July 18, 2001, A6 Menomonie WI Lloyd Robert Lake, age 88, of Gainesville, Ga., passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2001, at his home with hospice and family with him after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born Aug. 28, 1912, in Wheeler, Hay River township, to Mamie and Lloyd Lake Sr. He served as a pilot in the Navy during World War II. He was a retired captain with Eastern Airlines. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Gainesville. Survivors include his wife, Mildred Conrow Lake of Gainesville; a brother and sister-in-law, Herbert and Alice Lake of Boyceville; a sister, Ruby Lake Luepke; many nieces and nephews of Wisconsin; a daughter and son-in-law, Cinda and Robert Petetit of Gainesville; a son and daughter-in-law, L. Robert and Penny Lake of Virginia; two grandsons, Greg and John; and two granddaughters, Mandy and Leigh. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Mamie Lake; a sister, Ethel Benitz; and a daughter, Resa Lake Bower. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 27, 2001, at Little-Davenport Funeral Home Chapel in Gainesville with the Rev. Bruce Fields officiating. Interment was in College Park Cemetery in Gainesville.
