LORRAINE ROOT Newburgh, N.Y. Lorraine Root, of Newburgh, a former sales
associate for Big Scott and Grandway Department Store, and lifetime
area resident, entered into rest Monday, June 16, 2003 in St. Luke's
Hospital. She was 82. The daughter of the late Barnett and Constance
Mary Jerminerio Lennon, she was born on July 24, 1920 in Newburgh. She
was married to the late Clarence H. "Bob" Root. Lorraine attended
Newburgh schools, and was a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy. She
was a parishioner of Union Presbyterian Church. She is survived by
her six loving children, Jenne Mae Scalzo and her husband, Frank, of
New Windsor, Bevear "Nacy" Root and his wife, Patricia, of Newburgh,
Robert Root and his wife, Kim, of New Windsor, Linda Lake and her
husband, Ed, of Newburgh, Jean Wheeler and her husband, Allen, of
Naples, Fla, and Susan Ulbrich and her husband, Thomas, of Middletown;
two brothers, Richard Lennon of Newburgh, and Guy Lennon of Las Vegas,
Nev.; grandchildren, Frank and Anthony Scalzo, Melissa Dittbrenner,
James, Joseph and Mike Root, Samantha Feinman, Jerilynn and Ed Lake,
Allen and Tammy Wheeler, and Steven Root; great-grandchildren, Jimmy,
Kyle, Justin, Alyssa, Christopher, Nicholas, Benjamin, Blake, Kara, AJ,
Krysta and Courtney; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased
by her husband, Clarence; and a son, James Allen Root; and a brother, Jack
Lennon. Family will receive their friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on
Wednesday, June 18 at the Brooks-DiDonato Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave.,
Newburgh. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June
19 at the funeral home, with the Reverend Michael DiNardo officiating.
Entombment will follow in Cedar Hill Mausoleum, Newburgh. In lieu of
flowers, memorial contributions on Lorraine's behalf may be sent to St.
